Indie games are always a wonderful experience. While the word indie may have lost its meaning in music and maybe even film, games that are made without the help of a publisher can be an adventure. A lot of games now have the look and feel of a lazy job, with poor gameplay but a big name license slapped right onto it to sell copies. With independent games it's different. A lot of thought gets put into a game and the heart and soul of those working on it can be felt by anyone playing. Hopefully this is the case with adventure game Adam Syndrome from the brand new developer Dark Motif.

The game tells the story of Professor Adam Reed, who is trying to find out the circumstances of his wife's death. As the game moves along, Adam will move across various unique locales and uncover conspiracies, tied a lot to various historical figures, including John Dee, the famous occultist. A few secret societies and wild conspiracies later and Adam soon finds himself in a huge web in which he must untangle in the name of all that is good. This blending of fiction with some historical fact will give adventure game fans a lot to talk about and will sure make an interesting story to follow.

Like most other games in the genre, Adam Syndrome will feature some puzzles and some moody atmosphere to provide the ambiance that makes adventure games what they are. This atmosphere will be brought to you by the Wintermute Engine, a fantastic donationware engine that is perfect for adventure games, especially ones made independently.

While there isn't much else on the game yet, I for one am intrigued by the possibilities. There really hasn't been a big game yet for the Wintermute Engine so it is tough to say how it will all come out. However, with the promising storyline, things are looking pretty good for the game. Get your adventure on with Adam Syndrome, sometime next year.
