Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Infinity Ward is finally taking a step away from World War II with their latest title, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. There are far too many WWII games out there and it’s refreshing to see that COD4 is taking a step in a new direction while still having the same great gameplay that everyone loves.

The single player part of Call of Duty 4 does a much better job of telling the story behind the game then previous titles did. Several levels in the game are played ...

Portal
Portal is a standalone game that was released in and along with Valve’s Orange Box. The Orange Box includes HalfLife 2, Episode 1 and 2, Team Fortress 2, and Portal. All these games are also available separately online through Steam. Portal is a single player game that is very loosely tied to the story line of HalfLife 2. The main idea behind the game is that you are a test subject inside of a science facility and you are being tested on how you use a new technology, which ...

Bioshock
In a recent review I touched upon the ongoing debate about whether or not games can be considered an art form. If you didn’t know, I agree wholeheartedly to the notion that games can reach that level of creativity and technical excellence that can not only entertain, like what most art does, but enlighten those who experience the work. Visual art can do it. Music can do it. Dramatic art can do it. Why can't games? I mean, they essentially mix all those aforementioned elements together and immerse a ...

Mr. Robot
Isaac Asimov was a robot fanatic, to say the least. His work has inspired countless sci-fi tales across a broad range of mediums, including the interactive world of entertainment. In this particular case, a collection of robot-related material was composed (with a little inspiration from some old-school PC gaming) to give Moonpod a basis in which Mr. Robot would be built. It’s an adventure game like no other, especially when compared to the current market. Any PC gamer who is truly looking to rekindle the nostalgic adventure experience that ...

Rainbow Six: Vegas
The Rainbow Six franchise became famous on the PC and has prospered since its debut. Its rich blend of tactical strategy and unyielding realism made the Rainbow Six experience one few franchises have been able to match. Planning out how to clear a building, the tension of opening doors into enemy filled rooms, and the wonderful feeling of a successful mission with zero team casualties is what made the Rainbow Six franchise the best in the tactical shooter genre. So one can imagine the first Rainbow Six game to ...

Once Upon A Time
I doubt there’ll be a movie fairy tale where the evil wolf will eat the protagonist, or the dastardly selfish prince marries the innocent princess, or possibly where the evil witch steals the youth and beauty of a young girl. Yet in Once Upon A Time, either of those scenarios are possible with the game’s deathmatching fairy tale scheme for online or offline play. Yep, a multiplayer fairy tale deathmatch game...it took me a bit by surprise as well.

There’s four playable characters, fantasy environments, and lots of ...

Garrys Mod
Remember those days when we were young and it felt like we could create anything? Hours were spent in forests, parks, and sandboxes as the imagination went wild with possibilities. As we got older the parks became too small, the forests now gone, and the sandboxes have changed shape. Gone are squares full of sand and rock, and instead are replaced by games like Garry’s Mod; a modification ("mod") created from Half-Life 2. Does Garry’s Mod capture the amazing feeling of “oh my god I can do anything” as ...

Shelled
It’s been a lot of blood, sweat, tears, and concept art for Joshua Dallman, the lead Designer behind the freeware title, Shelled. A while back a preview build was released showing off a good representation of what was to come. And while the preview wasn’t complete, the entire gameplay concept was fleshed out enough to tell what kind of game it would be. So the big question is, does the final build live up to what we were expecting from the preview build? Mostly, yes.

It may not ...

Battlefield 2142
It is without a doubt that the Battlefield franchise is one of the stronger PC lineages. Spawning multiple titles across multiple war fronts, gamers have been given the opportunity to not only fight in World War II, but also Vietnam and even modern day warfare. In addition to these official titles there have been countless mods for Battlefield, with some of them being very well made. But there comes a problem with all this content. Eventually, the wars are going to get old and new locations, and new eras ...

DEFCON
DEFCON is an interesting title to review. In a world where next-gen graphics, next-gen physics, and next-gen sound are all the rage, it is difficult for those games which go a different more stylistic route to get noticed. Hopefully, DEFCON will be one of the few titles out there that won’t be missed as the next wave of technology is about to hit the gaming front. DEFCON is a tactical strategy simulation that will have gamers hooked for hours, just so long as they accept the steep learning curve.
